Organization for Computational Neurosciences (OCNS) 2020

The Allen Institute has accumulated a large array of public resources containing data on various aspects of brain structure and activity, mostly focusing on the mouse as an animal model. These resources include databases of transcriptomic, morphological, and electrophysiological properties of neurons; ultrastructural connectivity and synaptic physiology properties within a local circuit; and in vivo neural activity obtained via calcium imaging in genetically-defined cell populations and high-density extracellular electrophysiology using Neuropixels probes. All data are obtained under highly standardized conditions with strict quality controls, providing a unique, multi-faceted description of structural, functional, and computational properties of the mouse brain. In this Workshop, we will discuss these unique open datasets, related software tools, and computational models that start to integrate these diverse data. Presentations will focus on how the community can utilize these resources to support and inform computational and theoretical work.
