Included in this will be suggestions on how to make your poster more engaging\, as well as some tips to avoid producing a terrible poster. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\nAt the end of the session\, participants will: \n\nList three design choices to make a poster more engaging to increase the effectiveness of their message.\nDescribe two suggestions how to make the presentation of their poster more impressive and compelling.\n\nSCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES\n\n12:30-12:35pm – Welcome and Introductions\n12:35-1:55pm – Presentation + Q&A\n1:55-2:00pm – Thank You and Feedback Survey\n\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\nMichael Louella has worked in HIV treatment research for 20+ years\, engaging communities affected by HIV in Seattle and across the U.S. in clinical trials towards the treatment and potential elimination of HIV. From 2009 to 2014\, he served as the Chair of the Outreach\, Recruitment and Retention Subcommittee for the AIDS Clinical Trials Group\, teaching the network’s members and protocol chairs design techniques to make their flyers and posters more effective and pleasing. Michael currently serves on the national steering committee for The Reunion Project\, the national alliance of long-term survivors of HIV\, collaborating with local and national HIV advocates\, providers and researchers to create events for HIV long term survivors in the Seattle area.

His research group works on a diverse set of need-driven research projects including medical devices\, point-of-care in-vitro diagnostics\, improved cookstoves for the developing world\, and helmets that reduce the risk of concussion. She currently leads three grants related to IPCP (one focuses on leadership and team development; two on transforming practice for teams delivering care for underserved patients with heart failure). \nJonathan D. Posner\, PhD\, is the Richard and Victoria Harrington Professor for Engineering Innovation in Health in Mechanical Engineering\, Chemical Engineering\, and Family Medicine (adjunct) at University of Washington. He is a founder and the Director of UW’s Engineering Innovation in Health program that focuses on developing technical solutions to pressing challenges in health and healthcare. His research group works on a diverse set of need-driven research projects including medical devices\, point-of-care in-vitro diagnostics\, improved cookstoves for the developing world\, and helmets that reduce the risk of concussion. He has founded two companies: VICIS focused on a football helmet that reduces the risk of concussion\, and Phoresa focused on point-of-care diagnostics. He was UW Medicine’s Inventor of the Year in 2016.
