Each oral session will include invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts. For this reason\, abstracts from accomplished junior and senior investigators are warmly invited. \nOf particular note for trainees\, we will continue the tradition started in 2019 of selecting one graduate student and one postdoctoral scholar to receive the Ben Barres Trainee Award\, and to deliver a longer talk during the meeting. This serves to highlight the many important advances made by trainees to our field\, and to honor the memory and contributions of Dr. Ben Barres\, who advanced the field not only with his seminal discoveries but also by his tireless and selfless mentoring of and advocacy for junior scientists. \nAs usual at Cold Spring Harbor meetings\, abstracts of both poster and platform sessions will be published in an abstract book. The abstracts should focus on new and unpublished data. The organizers will select abstracts for oral or poster presentations. The status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made. We have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. \nWe have funds to provide partial scholarships for individuals who are US citizens/permanent residents from minority groups under-represented in the life sciences. Please provide justification in writing to Catie Carr and state your financial needs. Preference will be given to those applying who submit abstracts to the meeting. \nAll questions pertaining to registration\, abstract submission\, or any other matters may be directed to Catie Carr. \nPartial support may be provided by: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke \nPricing: \nVirtual Attendance Package: $300\nVirtual Graduate Student Package: $175 \n\nVirtual Attendance packages include registration\, access to online Zoom-based oral sessions\, access to the digital posters\, a dedicated Slack channel and access to the video archive on the Leading Strand for ~six weeks following the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:The Allen Institute has accumulated a large array of public resources containing data on various aspects of brain structure and activity\, mostly focusing on the mouse as an animal model. These resources include databases of transcriptomic\, morphological\, and electrophysiological properties of neurons; ultrastructural connectivity and synaptic physiology properties within a local circuit; and in vivo neural activity obtained via calcium imaging in genetically-defined cell populations and high-density extracellular electrophysiology using Neuropixels probes. All data are obtained under highly standardized conditions with strict quality controls\, providing a unique\, multi-faceted description of structural\, functional\, and computational properties of the mouse brain. In this Workshop\, we will discuss these unique open datasets\, related software tools\, and computational models that start to integrate these diverse data. Presentations will focus on how the community can utilize these resources to support and inform computational and theoretical work.
