SUMMARY:2025 Neuropixels and OpenScope Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Additional Location Information: Allen Institute (all participants July 9 – 10)\, University of Washington (Advanced Neuropixels Techniques participants on July 11) \nIn this workshop\, participants will gain in-depth exposure to the tools and techniques used by the Allen Institute to collect in vivo physiology data at scale. Lectures\, demonstrations\, and lab tours will cover all aspects of generating high-quality physiology datasets\, from surgery to behavior training to neural recordings. Participants will also learn how to access data from the Allen Brain Observatory and about the OpenScope program.

SUMMARY:Cascadia Proteomics Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The annual Cascadia Proteomics Symposium brings together proteomics researchers from the Pacific Northwest region\, Washington\, Oregon\, and British Columbia\, to discuss our great science\, get to know each other better\, share ideas\, and foster collaboration within the region. The program includes oral sessions\, vendor booths\, and poster presentations with appetizers\, Northwest brews and wines\, and other refreshments to make this a convivial event. \nThe 2024 symposium was was the best one yet\, so we’re doing it again in 2025 at the Institute for Systems Biology on July 17-18 (Thu-Fri).

SUMMARY:Developing Open Neuroscience Teaching Tools Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This four day in-person workshop will support educators in developing inquiry-based educational activities (ranging in scale from short single-class activities to CURE courses) that integrate Allen Institute’s open science data into their undergraduate neuroscience courses. \nParticipants will learn about publicly available datasets that require no\, low/medium\, or high coding experience from the Allen Institute. Then participants will work together in groups and use a structured backwards design process to design activities that meet their shared learning objectives. Workshop attendees will additionally work together to design both formative and summative assessments for students\, an assessment plan for measuring the success of the activity and plans for sharing the activity and outcomes. \nApply by February 3\, 2025
