Senior Scientist at Lyell Immunopharma
Seattle, WA
Glenna Foight’s scientific interests are in using protein engineering to enable new approaches for controlling cells for basic research and cell therapies. Since leaving her postdoc at UW at the end of 2018, she has been a senior scientist at the adoptive T cell therapy startup Lyell Immunopharma. She will discuss how she weighed the options of staying in academia vs. doing science in industry. The chance to pursue her research interests alongside a diverse team of experts working toward common goals ultimately tipped the scale in favor of industry. Glenna will discuss her experience being one of the first scientists on board at a company with the excitement and frustrations of setting up a lab, hiring a team, and troubleshooting the first pieces of science.
