Science in the City: The Surprising Link between Livestock Health and Girls’ Education

November 13, 2018 - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In sub-Saharan Africa, 75% of households practice small-scale farming, and 80% of these keep livestock as a primary means of economic livelihood. When these animals get sick, it requires a family’s time, effort and monetary resources to make them well again. Come join Dr. Tom Marsh, Distinguished Professor at Washington State University, as he explores the economics behind why livestock vaccinations allow families to send more young women to secondary school.

This free event is part of our Global Health and Development lecture series. Thanks to our partners, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Washington Global Health Alliance. North Entrance | Doors at 6:40 p.m. | All Global Health and Development lectures are free and have food and drinks available for purchase.
