Science in the City: Coffee, Kangaroos, and Community: A One Health Approach

June 11, 2019 - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

SITC June 11

How does the future of tree kangaroos depend on coffee and human healthcare? On June 11, come find out from Woodland Park Zoo’s Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program, University of Washington and local physicians as they explain the “One Health” approach to conservation – that human, animal and environmental health are all interconnected – and how they are helping to partner indigenous communities in Papua New Guinea with Seattle-based businesses like Caffe Vita. Through this program, the zoo is helping to maintain habitats for species like the tree kangaroo and provide healthcare to communities that never had access to modern medicine before. This free event is part of our Global Health and Development lecture series. Thanks to our partners, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Washington Global Health Alliance. Main Gate Entrance | Doors at 6:40 p.m. | Tickets are free for everyone but we advise reserving yours to ensure getting a seat.
