Seattle AWIS: Project Management in STEM

October 19, 2022 - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Come and join the Seattle chapter of American Women in Seattle and the Puget Sound chapter of the Project Management Institute in a lively and informative panel discussion about Project Management and women working in STEM fields.

Dr. Laura Williamson, Kelly Schactler, and Debra Droz are the featured panelists and will be taking questions about their experience as project managers working in STEM fields throughout their career. They’ll also be giving advice and perspective for women looking to either transition into project management from a formal STEM career, or looking to enter as a project manager for an employer in STEM.

This event will be held at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center on Fairview Street in South Lake Union, Seattle, in the Pelton Auditorium (Campus Map). Proof of vaccination is required, and the wearing of masks is encouraged.

This event is FREE and WELCOMES ALL. Registration is not required.

Speakers: 

Dr. Laura Williamson is a business, administrative, and project management professor, consultant and executive coach working with organizations such as L-3 Corporation, Data I/O, Bellevue PD, LAPD, Washington State Women’s Correctional Facility, Pierce College, and Central Washington University to name a few. She holds five degrees and numerous certificates in business, project management, and education related fields. She is passionate about creating business solutions as they present at the intersection of data- and relational-centered systems. This is no small task, and she loves the challenge!

Debra Droz is the Global Strategic Alliance Director at Archive360. She has worked for Microsoft and T-Mobile in various STEM roles.

Kelly Schactler (Project Management Rebooted) is a business owner and career project management professionals with a mountain of career experiences, successes, and lessons learned between them.​

Along with her co-host Paul Thompson (of Metagyre, Inc), Kelly anchors the popular project management webcast, My Project Hell (MPH) – a live 20-minute webcast every other Thursday where they cut through the corporate lingo and talk about real solutions to real project problems, featuring Coaches Corner with a guest project manager and their project hell situation
