SEP School Year Workshop: Elephants and Cancer Unit

March 25, 2022 - 4:00 pm - March 26, 2022 - 6:00 pm

Elephants and Cancer Unit Workshop

Join us on March 25 and 26th for our two-day workshop covering our new Elephants and Cancer unit. This 4-lesson unit centers around the question: Why don’t elephants get cancer as often as humans? Your students will learn about cancer avoidance strategies in different animal species. Then, focusing on the p53 cancer avoidance protein, students will run a gel electrophoresis lab and model the protein. Note that this unit can be used in conjunction with our original Elephant Trunk unit or as a stand-alone unit.

The workshop will be held over Zoom from 4-6 pm PST on Friday, March 25th, and in-person, 9 am – 12 pm PST on Saturday, March 26th. Spots are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and we will be limiting workshop capacity to 10 participants due to the in-person session.
