Out of Your Mind: The Inner Workings of Your Mysterious Sixth Sense
by John Tuthill, PhD, Assistant Professor of Physiology and Biophysics
Without looking, is your arm bent? How do you know? The sense of how your brain keeps track of your body in space is called proprioception, often referred to as “the sixth sense.” Dr. Tuthill’s lab uses lasers and virtual reality on fruit flies to solve the mystery of proprioception. Find out how this work could impact the design of agile robots and help people with movement disorders.
Reception with light hors d’oeuvres and no-host wine to follow.
