Dr. Fuki Hisama, professor (Medical Genetics) was recently awarded the Minority Faculty Mentoring Award from the UW School of Medicine Committee for Minority Faculty Advancement (CMFA).
This award recognizes the need for excellence in mentoring of under-represented faculty groups to achieve diversity and inclusion, key elements that can unleash creativity and innovation so that we can meet the health care needs of our region.
Hisama was recognized for years of work in promoting diversity and mentoring underrepresented individuals within the Division of Medical Genetics.
Hisama joined the faculty in 2009. In her roles as Program Director for the ACGME-accredited residency in Medical Genetics and co-director of the T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program in Medical Genetics, she has shown enormous dedication, initiative, creativity, and excellence in promoting diversity and mentoring underrepresented individuals at the University of Washington School of Medicine and elsewhere, including national societies.
